A client of mine was looking for an updated look to her living room. The living room itself is beautiful. Its immediately to the left of the foyer, and it's the first room you see when you enter the home. It has a beautiful fireplace and four windows that let in lots of light.
She was looking for a more updated look, and needed new accessories, rugs, pillows... etc.
She was hoping to be able to keep her couch, it's green, which is a neutral and it's in great shape. There is absolutely no reason why you can't resuse things you already own. We saved thousands on the room by keeping it, and allowed us to use the budget and stay under budget for the entire room.
Here are some pictures of the room before:
We kept the green sofa, and decided to keep the French Country Toile chair. It is so lovely and she wanted to keep some color in the room. The chair in the corner with the red and green stripes however was sent off to the upholsterer!
The mirror above the manel is the right shape and size, it was gold however, so we decided to re-do it. I took it home and chalk painted and gave it some glaze.
Here's a picture of the room coming together... before the chair was sent off to the upholsterer! We switched out the side tables and lamps, all accessories and pillows, new fireplace grate and tools, and added a console table behind the couch. We basically updated the entire room!
My clients parents were downsizing and had this trunk to give them. I had been hunting for one for them for several weeks when they got this- I love when that happens! The trunk looks amazing!! I couldn't have found a better one, and it was free!
Here is the chair with a beautiful blue linen fabric. It turned out gorgeous!
Everything with the exception of the couch and chair are new. I think it all looks so fresh!
I also chalk painted the console table that is holding the tv. It was a cherry wood with lots of scratches.
If furniture has nice lines and is in good condition, I love to repurpose it. I chalk painted and glazed it for a whole new look. The clients were so happy with how their room turned out! We are working on the bedrooms now!
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
